Carpet that has suffered water damage poses health problems from mold/mildew. Sewage poses greater health risks because of bacteria. Visit www.carpet-rug.com and under "Care & Cleaning" click "Water Damaged Carpet" and read the procedures that should have been taken. You can call the 800 Hotline number of the Carpet Rug Institute if you need more information. Take notes, have them email you the info, copy the info on the website, as you may need this info for the insurance. Don't sign anything unless you can be assured that the floor covering has been satisfactorily disinfected.
