I feel so alone, and it was wonderful hearing from you so fast when you answered my sewer garbage that the toilet spewed all over my tiled entry and edges of carpet help plea. Answers to some of your questions:
The filthy water (probably sewage also) has gone in about 2 feet of the carpet and pad. The pad is still on. The insurance company sent a carpet cleaning company out to take pictures and measure how far the moisture seeped into the carpet (done with some stick you press on the floor). They sent some kid who knew nothing. I asked how much this company was charging to do this because I have a $500 deductible, and if this is all the insurance company is going to do, I want to get other prices. After all $500 is alot of money for me, and I'll shop. The kid didn't know the price, just kept saying, you don't have to pay anything. He didn't even know what deductible meant. I said I want to know the cost.
The adjuster just called me today. He should have come in the first place.
What do you think I should do? If they just pull the pad a few feet from the edges and clean the carpet, will that take care of GERMS? I won't feel clean ever again.
I won't let them clean the carpet until the 2 feet of pad is taken out and new piece installed.
I don't know the cleaning procedure or products the carpet company will be using. As I said, their "representative" knew nothing.
Thank you again. I'm so envious of your knowledge. Thank you for sharing it.
